Matthew Gough

The new 2011 album 'This House' is Matthews second collection of songs on CD. His first CD, 'Bittersweet' came out in 2006. In between the two he has written for musical theatre and contributed to the ELO Tribute CD 'Scattered Light'. One show 'Charing Cross Chumps' won a 'Best New Musical' award.  The second show, 'No Ifs or Butlins' was based on the seaside camp at Clacton-on-Sea, where the show was performed at the towns Westcliff Theatre. Both musical comedies raised thousands of pounds for the Macmillan Cancer charity through the 'Mad About Theatre' group. Matthew's own cd's are more serious affairs. He writes his songs about  relationships, parting, childhood memories, love, loss, pain and joy. His lyrics are heartfelt and honest and the music shows his influences in the great songwriters of the past and present: The Beatles, Elbow, Cat Stevens, Coldplay, Jeff Lynne, Keane, Pink Floyd, David Gray, Kate Bush, James Blunt and many others old and new. He has honed his skills through working and writing with many other musicians over the last 30 years and he hopes you enjoy and are touched by his latest and best collection of songs, the 'This House' CD.
